TESLA COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS

For my JCOM 356 Account Management class, we had to conduct an individual competitive analysis for Tesla, which is looking to change its marketing strategy to keep up with the expanding electric vehicle market.

This assignment was the first part of our final project for the class. The task was pretty simple: provide a competitive analysis for Tesla.

Tesla pioneered electric vehicles but their lineup is aging and competition is intensifying. How might Tesla need to change their marketing strategy to respond?

I chose three of Tesla’s top competitors: Ford, Rivian, and Lucid, and researched why they’ve been growing in popularity and what Tesla could learn from them. I also researched their marketing strategies and some of their weaknesses that Tesla could use to their advantage.

This project taught me how to analyze a brand’s marketing strategy by weighing the strengths and weaknesses they possess. It gave me the ability to try and find ways a brand could update its current strategy using evidence-based findings as well as identify its positioning in comparison to competitors.
